There are a lot of places to view this majestic mountain. Most people like to see it from Lake Kawaguchi, which is probably the number 1 spot of viewing Mount Fuji. Lake Kawaguchi is beautiful, but so overrated and sometimes can get crowded in holiday season. Why not trying somewhere else?. I have another favorite place to consider.

Asagiri Kogen |
Asagiri Plateau, or Asagiri Kogen, is a huge highland in the north part of Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture. It's located straight at the west side of Mount Fuji. Asagiri is a combination of two words, "Asa" means "Morning", and "Giri / Kiri" means "mist / fog", explaining the situation of this place in the morning. Due to being a highland (about 700 m / 2296 ft above sea level), this place not too hot in the summer, and can be really cold in the winter. This place is extremely calming due to huge horizon of meadow.
This is also one of most favorite spots for camping in Shizuoka Prefecture, it was proved by its appearance in a famous anime and manga series "Yuru Camp".

Asagiri Kogen area during winter, you can see a thin snow covering the mountains top |

The air really fresh, you can run as far as you want there |
Not just Mount Fuji, Asagiri Kogen is a place for cattle ranches. You can taste fresh milk and its products from this region locally. To enjoy Asagiri, you can come to Asagiri Kogen Michi no Eki, which is basically just a "roadside station" in the main highway, but it serves a lot of local products from fresh milk to tasty milk ice cream.
